India bring down world champs

Set with an improbable victory target of 516 runs, Australia was bundled out cheaply for 195 on the final day before lunch.Left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan was the star of the day, picking three cherries in quick succession in the forms of Brad Haddin, Cameron White and Brett Lee before leggie Amit Mishra mopped up the remaining two wickets.Mishra was the star of the second test match, having bagged five wickets in the first innings of his test debut. He is the sixth Indian to do so on Test debut.
In the second Test match, India made 468 runs in the first innings and declared their second innings for 314 runs. Australia were bowled out for a paltry 268 runs in their first innings and faced a victory target of 516 runs.
On Monday, facing a mammoth total of 516 runs to win, the Aussie top order fell like skittles to the guile offie Harbhajan Singh and pacer Ishant Sharma who grabbed 3 and 2 wickets respectively to leave the world champions tottering at 141 for five.Michael Clarke, Australia's next probable captain, was the lone face of Australian resistance in the face of some inspiring Indian bowling but his knock of 69 did not go beyond boosting his personal tally.Tuesday's defeat is the worst meted out to Australia in terms of victory margin in Test cricket since 1991.This is also India's biggest win against the Aussies, eclipsing the 222-run victory that came in Melbourne in 1977.
