The education scene in West Delhi is looking up as never before. Thanks to the growing number of schools in this part of Delhi, providing education to children is no longer a nightmare which used to be the case due to the absence of good schools. Even seven to eight years back parents didn’t have much choice in terms of proper schools reduced as they were to scraping the barrel to ensure that their children get good education even if it meant sending them to South Delhi from West Delhi. All this is changing now. West Delhi is turning out to be the new address for good schools and coaching institutes. People are even settling down in West Delhi from South Delhi because they don’t have to worry about their children’s future. Says Amit Wagle, a resident of Paschim Vihar, "I shifted to the area in 2004. Thankfully, I didn’t have a problem getting my son and daughter admitted to a good school. Now, the school is about three km from our house. Contrary to initial skepticism, we no longer regret our decision of settling down here.’’If the mall revolution defined West Delhi’s character till a couple of years ago, it is now the education culture that has become the mainstay of this zone. Schools with well laid out infrastructure and other facilities have become attractive propositions for parents who are willing to shell out money for the all round development of their children’s personality.
Says a teacher from a school who didn’t want to be identified, "There was a feeling that schools in West Delhi are not up to a scratch, and that there nothing to brag about the education scene in this part of Delhi. But now parents from South Delhi enquire about schools in West Delhi and express their willingness to get their children admitted.’’Things are equally looking up when it comes to coaching institutes. Students preparing for their competitive exams don’t have to go all the way to South Delhi for their coaching classes. They get all such facilities in West Delhi itself.
