Be the best you can


CRY - Child Rights and You, a child rights organisation, invites applications for the third National Child Rights Research Fellowships. Upto 10 fellowships will be awarded. The research results will be available to a broad audience of activists, academics, programmers and the general public through multiple fora, including language translations. It is hoped this will influence the course of debate on child rights and the best interest principle. Proposals are invited in any Indian languages including English.Financial supportGrant sizes may range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh and the duration of the research project can be from a month to a year.EligibilityOpen to all Indian nationals living in India who are above 18 years of age.ProcedureDetails of possible themes are available on www.cry.org. Selection of awardees will be by an independent panel and their names will be announced latest by April 2009.Sir Ratan Tata FellowshipSir Ratan Tata Foundation at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) invites applications for the ‘Sir Ratan Tata Fellowship’ now in its twelfth year. Applicants should be established scholars in the social sciences with experience of research on South Asia. The fellowship will be for a period of up to eight months, preferably starting 1st October 2009, and will be based at the Asia Research Centre at the LSE.Financial supportThe Fellow will receive a monthly subsistence allowance of up to £1500 a month, the exact amount depending on qualifications; and will be provided with office space and access to research facilities at the school.EligibilityApplicants should hold a PhD or comparable qualifications and experience-the fellowship is not intended for students registered for a degree or diploma, nor is it intended for senior academics. Preference will be given to topics that focus on contemporary social and economic concerns of South Asia.
