Fitness mantra

Not just a passing fad, regular work out in gyms has become a serious affair for working women and housewives in West Delhi. No doubt, West Delhi today boasts of a chain of hi-tech and glamourous gyms in Rajouri Garden and Janakpuri -Litika Mehta West Delhi They are the perfect managers. From being the undisputed winners at the home front to doing wonders in professional life, West Delhi women have proved their worth everywhere. And, in between these gruelling sessions at home and office, they also manage to get time to hit the gym regularly. Gone are those days when gyming was confined to boys only.
The long standing perception of equating gyming with body-building has finally gone and is now seen as a means of keeping oneself fit and fine as well as a stress buster. This is the reason, why more and more working girls and housewives are becoming a part of the regular workout sessions in gym. And, it’s not just for weight reduction, what they are looking forward to is complete fitness. Shares Pooja Ahuja, a West Delhi based senior financial analyst, "The most important thing, when you are a working woman, is to maintain your fitness. I am 25-year-old and I regularly workout in gym, not just to reduce weight but to look good and feel energetic." For 23-year-old Neha, a marketing executive and a resident of Rajouri Garden, also, fitness is a way to attain mental peace. "Workout session in gym is the time when you can concentrate on yourself," she says. Similarly, Tina Malhotra, a resident of Punjabi Bagh, and mother of a three-year-old girl, feels that gyming makes her feel more confident. "I think working out in gym not only keeps you fit and fine but also keeps one relaxed and in a happy and cheerful mood," says this 29-year-old dietician. The punctuality with which these girls come for gyming sessions, shows that it’s not just a passing fad and this trend is here to stay. Agrees, Shagufta Nasreen, a faculty member in a fashion designing institute. "It has become a necessity in today’s life, where a strict diet schedule is not possible to maintain. It’s only through a gym that one can be fit and fine,” she says. What has further reinforced this healthy trend is the emergence of West Delhi as the perfect fitness destination. In the recent past, several good gyms like Revital, Energy, Fi-action, Skys, Bodycare have come up in areas like Rajouri Garden, Janakpuri and Punjabi Bagh and are immensely popular.
