Delhi feels the chill
The 'Dilli ki sardi' (delhi's winter)is here. Its getting cooler with every passing day and winter is coming thick and fast. i just love winters, its such a nice felling but only till chill doesnt go in to spines, as it usually does after mid-december. But right now its beautiful weather in National capital. The November chill is making its presence felt in the city, even though officially winter is still a while away. The evenings are marked by a heavy haze while early risers and those who stay in the Palam area are witnessing a low mist in the mornings even as afternoons continue to remain sunny and warm. Dr SC Bhan, director, Safdarjung Meteorological Department said that the temperatures recorded are in sync with the temperature trends of previous years. The actual winter cold would set in much later. "The minimum temperature on Thursday was 13.3 degrees Celsius which is one degree below normal while maximum was 30.6 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. The chill started setting in from October and such weather will hopefully continue for the whole month,'' he said. However, high pollution levels and smoke in the evening, specially on Thursday, led to a heavy smog conditions. "The humidity levels on Thursday evening were 50-60%. When combined with the smoke and pollutant particles, that led to hazy conditions and low visibility. However, the moisture in the air is not sufficient for fog formation,'' said an official. According to Met officials, Delhi and its surrounding regions are experiencing a dry spell and there is no western disturbance which can affect it right now. "In the first week of November, we are expecting mainly a clear sky with mist in the morning. However, due to prevalence of northwesterly dry winds, the maximum and minimum temperatures may fall slightly and hover between 30-32 degrees Celsius and 15-17 degrees Celsius respectively.
