Delhi wokes up to foggy-chilly Sunday

The winter chill was finally felt by Delhiites during the day on Saturday. It was the coldest afternoon after the warmest night December 20 in the past five years. Officials from Safdarjung Met office attributed this to the western disturbance over northwest India.

The day was cloudy and caused many to stay indoors and venture out only with adequate protection. The night temperature, however, was more than the past few days. Due to presence of moisture in the air heavy fog is being predicted by early Sunday morning and flights and rail travel may get affected. (temperature at 4 am) of Its been cloudy & foggy since last two days in Indian national capital New Delhi. Temperature dropped by few nothches as sun hided all day on saturday and is expected to drop further once sky clears up. Visbility dropped to less than 100mtrs at 7:30 HRS (IST) resulting in life moving at snail's pace and train.

Flights were reported running several hours late (About 15 flights were delayed by 2-3 hours while four others cancelled due to dense fog at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here early this morning. One flight of Jetlite and Indigo each to Mumbai was cancelled while another flight to Kabul was grounded as heavy fog enveloped the city.

Another flight of Indigo from Delhi to Goa was also cancelled. The visibility dropped to below 50 metre while the Runway Visibility Range (RVR) dipped down to 125 metres forcing the airport authorities to implement CAT-III B Instrument Landing System. Both the run-ways, the new runway (29/11) and the main runway (28/10) were made open to air operations since 6 am, an airport official said.). Well its sunday so remaining inside house and having your favourite drink and some 'pakodas' & 'samosa' is always beter idea.
